Ever heard a psychedelic mushroom fueled circus orgy? No? Well then you need to check out Gnarly Slur! Gnarly Slur consists of Vicente Chavez on bass, vocals and sampler; Lysergick Diethelamide on guitar, vocals and electronics and Boss br-800 on drums and synthesizer.

Dope, Mudvayne, Spineshank and Skinny Puppy are just a few of the bands who have influenced the metal industrial sound of Albuquerque’s Gnarly Slur. The metal guitars mixed with the synthesized drums and dark vocals make Gnarly Slur a stand out in the local scene. Gnarly Slur will continue to create their music because it is not just a hobby but a passion. As Lysergick said “Dead or alive, sober or high, love us or hate us we will still be here making noise.”

Formed in 2010 Gnarly Slur has been able to network and play shows with some of Albuquerque’s best bands and artist. One of their biggest accomplishments is being sold out of all their merchandise and music. Gnarly Slur is proud that they have a solid fan base of fans or crazy bastards; as they call them. Their future and current goals are to stay out of jail so they can continue to keep learning music and to release as much material as possible.

Gnarly Slur’s material is creative and odd but that is what makes it unique and enjoyable; not to mention the guys are fun to hang out and party with so check them out at an upcoming show and see for yourself what Gnarly Slur is really all about.

During a thunder storm in Russia, October 1973, lightening struck four musicians and fate united them and they formed to become the Epic Rock band to be known as the mighty Beard! M Beard supplies the thunderous guitar riffs and gritty vocals while K Beard brings the dynamic guitar riffs and secondary vocals; D Beard holds down the low end on bass and K Beard keeps them all in time on the drums.

This Epic Rock band relocated to Albuquerque in October of 2011 where they began their journey of spreading their music and slogan of “Beard is Bullshit”. Beard has opened for Nashville Pussy, released 3 music videos, recorded and released their first album, Black Unicorn, which was released on cassette and also sold with an MP3 download card. Beard is currently in the studio working on their next release and will be going on tour beginning July 16, 2013. Beard still has goals of continuing to play to as many people as possible, to always record, to not give a fuck, to go back to their homeland of Russia to play for family and friends, to save all the tit mice and their ultimate goal is to own a dog farm.

The Epic Rock sound of Beard is inspired by many including Dave Grohl, The Foo Fighters, BRM Club, Janis Joplin, Sound Garden, Jane’s Addiction, Josh Mays, Motley Crue, Ratt and Russian Circles. The best way to sum up what the sound of Beard is like is that it is comparable to Music is the Enemy meets Epiphany meets Tried by Twelve.

Beard truly loves unicorns and they honestly feel that they have the coolest fans and love them almost as much as unicorn’s. When asked why someone should go see a Beard show, D Beard answered with determination “don’t do it, Beard is bullshit!” but the other members state that they love what they do and you may love it too but you won’t know unless you go to a show and give them a chance.

You can catch Beard on tour this summer starting with their tour kick off show at the Launchpad on July 16th followed by Denver July 19th and Colorado Springs July 20th. They will return to the Albuquerque stage August 3rd at Sister Bar for a Ramones Tribute show followed by August 31st at Hooligans for the Dirty Deeds Burlesque show and September 7th at Burt’s Tiki Lounge.
