Week 22

May

What do you get when you mix DRI and Toxic Holocaust? You get one of Albuquerque’s hardest working thrash metal bands the scene has ever had! Who is this band you ask? That band is Torture Victim! Dom Dimas on guitar and vocals, James Gonzales on drums, Gabe Martinez on lead guitar and James Herring on bass are the framework of this metal machine.

Torture Victim has been a main stay on the Albuquerque scene for over 10 years and has gone through several transformations. The current musicians came together to create this solidified sound in May of 2012; although Dom Dimas is the only original member.

Torture Victim credits their unique compositions to bands such as Celtic Frost, Dark Thrown, Kreator and GBH.

These bands have influenced the member’s creativity and the overall tone of their music. Some have compared them to old school Slayer but Torture Victim really believe that the resemblance to Slayer or any band for that manner is all subjective and encourage listeners to hear for themselves and to develop their own opinion.

Over the years Torture Victim has had the honor of playing with many national and international acts including Overkill, DRI, The Casualties, Toxic Holocaust and Goatwhore. Their ultimate goal is to represent Albuquerque and New Mexico in the thrash genre. They also have an unquenchable drive to always improve on their music and to ensure that each album released is better than the previous and the proof is in their newest CD to be release on May 11th. That night the Launchpad is hosting the triple CD release show featuring Torture Victim, Impaled Offering and Nuclear Reign.

If you are a fan of thrash metal or punk rock then you will have an amazing time at a Torture Victim show. The audience can always expect an intense live show presented with 100% energy and conviction that these four musicians bring to the stage.

Don’t forget your next chance to see Torture Victim is Saturday May 11th at the Launchpad for the Triple CD release!

In the wee hours of the dark night
Came about an eerie rocking sight
When from a dug up grave the Ballistic Batz arose
In Rio Rancho, May 20 12, or so the story goes.

Boogie Man played a mighty punk riff, his song he did sing
Lurch moaned in the background, his guitar with a broken string
Frankenkanak played his drums with a mighty beat
Necronate laid down the bass as they walked in the street.

A band of horror punks with just one thing on their decomposing minds
Necrophilia is fun, they say, we love dead girls of all kinds
On their journey they bring the fun back to death
With their friend the most horny, Rigatortoise.

The songs of the Misfits and Blitz Kids too
Influence the music and all that they do
But the songs that they play are all their own
Simple and catchy, in your head they will roam.

A show they will play on May 23rd at Hooligan’s Bar
With amazing local support and The Rocketz from afar
Ballistic Batz will melt off your face with their riffs of doom
So make sure you bring someone to help you clean up the room.
